The Indo-American Fair – such an energizing and tiring topic at the same time!
The fair this year yet again allowed us to raise a lot of money for the temple. On the first day, the balloon team had to share a stall with the face painting team and no, we did not have much space. However, this allowed us to make more sales in fact because I called upon one other ballooner and we went out of the stall into the scorching heat with our trifold to advertise. Most of our sales that day were of hand-delivered balloons; people did not come to our stall – we went to them.
Using a creative angle, I wore some crazy hats that truly looked alien – I’m serious. This helped us get some business because the kids would smile at me and ask their parents for the hat before I even approached the family. By the time I could talk to them about sales, the parent had already given in to the child and would buy the hat or another balloon.
The trifold we used to advertise was extremely colorful and attractive and I am happy with how it turned out. I think that the one thing I could have done better when making the trifold however is that I could have included more pictures of balloons. However, my partner and I were holding balloons anyways so the public could see examples of the creations.
The order of popularity was: Flower Bracelet, Sword, Punching Balloon, Tiger, then more
I was surprised to receive so many requests for tiger, but I am happy about that because it is challenging to make and I enjoyed the challenge. Overall, the fair was a success for the balloon team.
